Port of Vancouver Harbour Tour: World Maritime Day

In celebration of World Maritime Day on Saturday September 28, 2019, the Port of Vancouver is hosting 4 guided boat tours of the inner harbour. Experience the sights and sounds of a busy harbour while learning about Canada's largest and most diversified port. This family-friendly tour will include a visit from Salty the seagull, the Port of Vancouver mascot. Net proceeds from the tours will be donated to the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, an Ocean Wise® initiative. Tours begin at 10:45 am, 12:45 pm, 2:45 pm and 4:45 pm.

Coach service to the off-site dock departs at 10:45 am, 12:45 pm, 2:45 pm & 4:45 pm sharp.  Boat tours begin at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm & 5:00 pm. All guests will be transported to & from the boat dock (located off-site) via the coach service located at the front of Canada Place.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Live narrated tour in English
  • Journey aboard the Magic Charm Charter Vessel – featuring indoor/outdoor space
  • Tour will travel between the Second Narrows Bridge and Lions Gate Bridge
  • Highlights of the port including:
    • Port activities
    • Discussion on the varieties of ships and cargo coming into the port (bulk, breakbulk, container ships)
    • Historical landmarks along the waterfront
    • Overview of the marine terminals along the Burrard Inlet

       

HOW LONG IS THE TOUR?

The boat tour is 1 hour, however, please to spend 2 hours including transfers.

WHERE AND WHEN DO I CHECK IN?

999 Canada Place Way – the front of Canada Place. Please look for the Port of Vancouver signage and staff to check in.  Please check in at least 15 minutes prior to your departure.

IS THE TOUR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Please note that there is limited accessibility for this tour. The main deck of the Magic Charm vessel is wheelchair accessible.  However, the transfer trolleys are not wheelchair accessible.  If you require a wheelchair accessible route to access the vessel, please contact community.relations@portvancouver.com and arrangements will be made. The boat dock is wheelchair accessible, but physical assistance onto the vessel will be required (stair access only)

ARE THERE WASHROOMS ONBOARD THE BOAT?

Yes, there are 4 washrooms available onboard the boat.

CAN I PURCHASE FOOD ONBOARD THE BOAT?

No outside food is allowed on the boat.  Bring your own refreshing beverages in a reusable container (no alcohol please).

 

 

ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?

Yes, due to safety concerns, children under the age of 3 are not allowed to attend the tour. 

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Changes or cancellations can be made anytime before 24 hours prior to tour departure.  After that time, all bookings will be considered non-refundable. Please note that no shows or missed departures will not be refunded.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather depending on the season. Check the weather prior to arrival into Vancouver. Bring an umbrella or rain jacket just in case of inclement weather.

ARE THE TOURS CANCELLED IF IT RAINS?

The tours will run rain or shine. The vessel features indoor/outdoor space.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON THE TOUR?

Guests are welcome to bring a camera, video camera, a water bottles, and/or umbrella. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing for the boat journey.

DO YOU OFFER TOURS IN MY LANGUAGE?

The tour is conducted entirely in English.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO TRAVEL BY THEMSELVES?

No, at least 1 adult must book and travel with any children under the age of 12.
