About This Activity/Attraction

Science World

Looking at the current version of Vancouver’s Science World (officially titled the Telus World of Science) one would never know that the centre began as a grassroots effort of one person to spread her love of science. In 1977 Barbara Brink traveled with hands-on exhibits through the British Columbia’s Lower Mainland until in 1982 when a permanent centre opened. Science World has undergone many transformations since those humble beginnings, and is now housed in the multi-million dollar geodesic dome that was originally built for the 1986 World’s Fair.
The Telus World of Science also hosts the largest Omnimax Dome Screen in the world, an immense screen of 5 stories in height and 27 metres (89 feet) in diameter, affording viewers the most immersive audio-visual experience possible. Providing hands-on exhibits and interactive displays, events and featured scientific exhibits, Science World is as educational as it is fun.
